Team Working
Working together as a team involves a practical involvement in day to day work place issues. Small teams of all levels of experience can understand more about how they communicate with both the external customer and the internal customer. (The latter often being more complex.) A classic example of when this is needed is when a group of people in a business environment say they all get on very well and do not need any help. However if one talks to either of the customers one receives a different picture. Although the nature of the learning is non-prescriptive, very often ego states, assertiveness and conflict resolution form areas of discussion. Essentially small groups need the help of about five sessions each lasting about a day. The approach is democratic and encouraging by the establishment of a non-blame culture, for learning in participation.
Recent examples include.... A Press office. Customer services dept. Governmental Board of Senior Executives. A Housing Trust entire workforce. International Packaging Company including 52 Factories. Telecommunications Co. 5 London Boroughs. I.T.Printing Manufacturer. Defence Organisation. 8 Local Authorities. Transport and Removal Firm. DIY Retail Chain. International Recruitment PLC. 2 Breweries. 2 Banks. 2 National Home Builders. 3 Food Manufacturers. Publishing and printing Business. Gas supply and distributor. 2 Charities. National Insurance Co. Exhibition Centre.
Positive results can be seen at the end of each session.
P.L. John Deere: "I believe the healthy increase in staff commitment is due almost entirely to the excellent testimonial of those who have attended your courses. The word is now spreading amongst the dealer network that these really are usefull and worthwhile courses. What better advert can you have."
Motivation By studying the works of the great writers we begin to understand the concept surrounding motivational matters. Using this as a basis for new thinking learners will be able to see that motivation depends upon the individuals needs. A lack of appreciating this has caused many promotional programmes to fail in the past.
We look at a needs analysis and recent changes in behaviour and begin to produce a method for workplace motivation in a measured system.
Given this technique, an ongoing method of monitoring both the individual and the team can not only give present readings but also indicate future areas of need.
The link with team working is essential here. There is also self-motivation to consider. All of us from time to time get a little low or sometimes depressed, particularly with current business pressures and an economy potentially based on stilts. Dark days of winter, traffic jams and demanding emails take their toll as well. Holidays relieve the pressure to some degree, however we still come back to the same problems. Take a little time out and find out if what you are striving for in business still really motivates you?
